3. Spiderman 3 (2007)
Director: Sam Raimi
Budget: $293 million
When the first Spiderman film was released in the year 2002, it single-handedly took the superhero genre to a new height. Subsequently, there was a lot of money thrown at the Spiderman franchise. The budget of the next movies kept going up with the salaries of the stars, the web-slinging effects, and, most importantly, the promotion and marketing campaigns.
After Spiderman 2, Spiderman 3 had sky-high expectations and the movie was made with a higher marketing budget. Unfortunately, while it wasn’t a major disaster, it was a critical mess that didn’t reach the same highs as the second film. Spiderman was put on hold until it was rebooted with a new actor in Amazing Spider-Man.
