7. The Big Lebowski (1998 – Joel Cohen, Ethan Cohen)
This 1998 classic casts Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges as a laid- back stoner detective named Jeff Lebowski. Through his insistence to be called ‘the dude,’ his questionable calm and his strange nonchalance, the detective compels the reader to root for him as he tumbles into the Los Angeles underworld in a strangely humorous twist of fate. This movie is perhaps the greatest Coen Brothers’ classic, scoring well among critics and tripling its budget in box office sales.
